At our Bunkhouse we believe strongly in protecting and preserving the local environment in every way we can. Over the last ten years we have striven to make the business as accessible to travellers as we can by:-
- providing bike racks for our zero carbon footprint guests
- maps and leaflets on cycle routes from our door
- encouraging groups to car-share whenever possible
- welcoming groups which use local bus services or coaches to reduce carbon emissions
- Encouraging our guests to eat locally at either the Ardgour Inn ( via a free ferry ride) or Roam West, which is a five minute walk away. This also reduces our guests’ carbon footprint.
Electricity at the Corran Bunkhouse
Our electricity comes from 100% renewables from Clear Business.
We welcome guests travelling by electric car and have an local guide to re-charging stations.
Our wildlife areas and garden
Over the last ten years, we have introduced as many flowering plants as we can, flowering throughout the summer months, to encourage insects to flourish. We have left areas around our site for dandelions and clover to flourish. We have log piles, bug houses and bird feeders all over our site, so that our guests can admire our feathered friends from close proximity. Our resident Pine Marten also visits regularly, which shows how successful our area is, to provide a secure environment for nature to co-exist with tourism.
Refillable Customer Care Products and Cleaning Products
All of our soaps, shampoos, moisturisers and shower gels are from Out of Eden, in re-fillable bottles, enabling guests to travel light, whilst reducing our need to recycle bottles daily. Our cleaning products are Bright Earth Out of Eden naturally derived, plant based, biodegradable cleaning products in re-fillable bottles, which staff re-use each day.
Re-cycling at the Corran Bunkhouse
We re-cycle glass, aluminium, paper and plastic bottles. Our guests are encouraged to use the re-cycling bins provided.
